Proofreading and Editing

In addition to proofreading/checking/revising my own translations, which should always be an integral part of the translation approach, I also offer proofreading, editing and revision services for translations produced by other linguists both from my own language pairs into English, and also general proofreading and editing services for English documents translated from other languages and non-translated English texts, including theses, dissertations, articles, etc.

When carrying out peer review, it is clearly important to ensure that all reference materials and style guides have been adhered to and that the text contains no grammatical or typographical errors. However, as no two translators will render identical translations of the same source text word-for-word, it is not the place of the professional reviewer to adapt an otherwise perfectly acceptable translation to their own individual style. This balancing act between correction and preferential intervention is something that only years of experience can afford.
